I actually feel sorry for the guys over at patriot because they made such a nice drive and a bunch of whiny brats are bad mouthing it all over newegg reviews and the patriot forums. This quad channel stick is about twice as fast, which is exactly what I would expect. The dual channel stick this replaced would write about 7-9 mb/sec on large files. You wouldn't complain that the car is slow just because you could only go 65 on the highway due to other traffic slowing you down.Īpparently some people are actually getting the max speed or even higher so maybe some drives are better than others. Imagine you bought a car with a max speed of 187 mph. My experience with flash memory suggests you will get about 50-60% of the claimed max speed. I expected to get about 15 mb/sec when I read that the max speed is 25 mb/sec. Overall Review: I don't know why so many people are saying this is a slow drive. The price isn't much more than dual channel sticks.

I'm getting write speeds of about 16 mb/sec for large files and 1 mb/sec for a folder full of pics. I would recommend this drive to anyone and everyone. So far, after about 3 weeks of use, this drive has exceeded my expectations. Overall Review: I look for a couple things in a drive: speed,reliability and durability. The connection is very solid so that doesn't really matter and neither of these are a big deal in my book. When plugged in you can tell the cover is slanted a bit so when you plug it in you have to tilt the drive a bit so it will line up correctly. I love this drive!Ĭons: If I had to be picky I would say that the cover slides forward a little too easily and the drive doesn't seem to be perfectly straight. It only takes 10-15min to fill it completely, at 14.9gb formatted to NTSC, which is incredible compared to my previous PNY drive, which took 15-20min to fill up only 7.2gb.

I would rather it be exfat32, so I could put 12-13gb files on it, but the WD TV LIVE doesn't read exfat32, which I discovered through trial and error, but this drive copies files in all 3 formats with great speed. Since the most of the files are between 4-8gb files, I formatted it to NTSC. I use it to hold movies to plug into my WD TV Live HD plus.
